Race Procedures

 

Race Procedures:

All drivers must check in at the Michigan Dirt Cup tent to receive a ticket to draw when they arrive at the track.  Tickets will be turned in for driver to draw for heat starting position.

Drivers may register only 1 car for a Dirt Cup event and must race the car they registered in with. Back up cars may not be used and driver can not race another driver’s registered car.   Drivers may drive another class of car for non Dirt Cup races.

Once all cars have drawn, they will be split into heats depending on car count.

Heat races will be 10 laps; B Mains will be 15 laps.  Drivers who qualify for main event must weigh IMMEDIATELY after heat races and pull pill for re-draw.

Re-draws will be done when you weigh at the scales after heat races.  Feature line ups will set by finishing order in heat race and B main with group re-draws. Each group is based on where the car finished in the heat race  1st place draws against each other for top positions; 2nd place group draws next, 3rd place, 4th place, etc.

B Feature line up is based on finishing position in heat races. Drivers qualifying for A-feature from B-feature will draw after their B-feature and start behind heat race A-feature qualifiers.

If you spin twice during any race you will be sent to the pit for the rest of that race.

If  a car goes to the pits during the a caution (for any reason), and returns to the track you must go to the tail.

If you go to the pits while racing (including cautions), you cannot re-enter the track until a caution. If you re-enter the track you must  go to the tail and missed laps will not be counted.

Michigan Dirt Cup races will start a minimum of 20-22 cars for the features based on the number of heat races and B mains run; The track may start additional cars based on car count, based on Dirt Cup’s discretion.  Additional cars being added to the feature must transfer from the B main.

Line Ups:

Based on 30 Cars
3 Heats of 10 with top 5 transfer to A Feature. 1st place draws against each other for top positions; 2nd place group draws next, than 3rd, 4th, 5th place.
1 B Feature of 15 cars with top 5 transferring to A Feature and line up based on finishing order.
Feature Field of 20

Based on 40 Cars
4 Heats of 10 with top 4 transfer to A Feature. 1st place draws against each other for top positions; 2nd place group draws next, than 3rd, 4th place.
2 B Feature of 12 cars each with top 2 from each transferring to A Feature and line up based on finishing order.
Feature Field of 20

Based on 50 Cars
5 Heats of 10 with top 3 transfer to A Feature.  1st place draws against each other for top positions; 2nd place group draws next, than 3rd place.
3 B Features; two with 12 cars and one with 11 cars with top 2 from each transferring to A Feature and line up based on finishing position group redraw.
Feature Field of 21

Based on 60 Cars
6 Heats of 10 with top 2 transfer to A Feature.  1st place draws against each other for top positions; 2nd place group draws next
4 B Features with 12 cars,  top 2 from each transferring to A Feature. Line ups will be based on finishing position group redraw.
Feature Field of 21

Based on 70 Cars
7 Heats of 10 with top 2 transfer to A Feature.  Top 7 will redraw for position in Feature Rest will be lined up how they finished in heat.
4 B Features of 14 cars each  with top 2 from each transferring to A Feature
